The season is gathering pace now we're 10 games in and we've picked out a couple of games featuring the pacesetters to keep an eye on this week...
Peterborough United head to Sunderland tonight with half an eye on the teams around them at the top of the table as the Sky Bet League One season gathers momentum. Unbeaten Portsmouth returned to top spot at the weekend after Peterborough were frustrated by Blackpool, who twice came from behind to draw, and that allowed Doncaster to close the gap and climb up to third and within two points of Posh – jumping ahead of Peterborough's hosts tonight, Sunderland, in the process.
The Black Cats were also held to a draw at Coventry – who themselves host Portsmouth tonight – and will be keen to build on their solid start that has seen them win five times and draw four. Steve Evans side are the division's top scorers, but only Scunthorpe United in 10th have conceded more in the top half of the table.
The teams haven't met in the league since 1993/94 when Sunderland did the double over Posh, and Peterborough's only visit to the Stadium of Light ended in defeat in the EFL Cup five years ago.
Playing for Posh that night was Grant McCann, who tonight takes his improving Doncaster side to Accrington Stanley, bidding for a fifth consecutive league win.
Rovers recorded their sixth triumph of the season at Plymouth Argyle at the weekend but will face a tough task at the home of a team unbeaten since suffering defeat on the opening day of the campaign – and looking to take that run of games into double figures.
