Lincoln City and Exeter City played out a goalless draw in the first of the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Semi-Finals on Saturday afternoon.
The first half was tightly contested with few chances of note, although Exeter’s Jayden Stockley will have been disappointed not to make more of a couple of opportunities towards the end of the opening period.
Lincoln made the early running after the break, with Christy Pym coming to the rescue not once, but twice, to keep the sides level. On the hour, he was finally beaten – but the crossbar kept out Matt Rhead’s header.
The goalmouth action died down somewhat after that, although Ryan Allsop was made to work at the opposite end by Ryan Harley and Jake Taylor.
It’s down to St James’ Park on Thursday night for the return leg.
