EFL Play-Offs: Carlton Morris clinches Shrewsbury Town's place at Wembley

Back-to-back wins over Charlton Athletic send Shrews back to the National Stadium

13 May 2018

A 1-0 win both legs of their Play-Off semi-final with Charlton Athletic secured Shrewsbury Town their second Wembley appearance of the season.

In Sunday's tie at Montgomery Waters Meadow, Paul Hurst's men knew a draw would be enough to see them through to the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final.

A frantic first-half of action ended goalless as both sides saw golden chances squandered in front of goal.

Salop came out flying in the second-half and got their reward shortly before the hour mark. Some fine work down the right flank from Shaun Whalley saw him lay the ball through to Carlton Morris who fired home at the front post.

With it all to do, the Addicks were unable to find a reply, and Shrewsbury booked their fifth visit to the National Stadium. They're still on the hunt for their first win...
