Another matchday down, another Team of the Week selected. We’ve chosen 11 players and one manager to make up our latest line-up. So, without further ado…
Goalkeeper: Lee Burge — Coventry City 1-0 Barnet
Boss Mark Robins hailed Burge for a “world-class save”, just one of several stops from the Sky Blues’ goalkeeper in a narrow home triumph.
Defender: Joe Bennett — Cardiff City 3-2 Birmingham City
Teeing up Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Craig Bryson and Callum Paterson, Bennett registered three assists as the promotion-chasing Bluebirds claimed a sixth straight victory.
Defender: James Chester — Aston Villa 4-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Another weekend and another goal for Chester, but it was his defensive efforts which caught the eye as the Villans thwarted their rivals — and the Championship leaders — for much of Saturday evening’s success.
Defender: Sam Habergham — Chesterfield 1-3 Lincoln City
Impressive defensively, Habergham demonstrated his quality of delivery too, creating goals for Michael Bostwick and Scott Wharton either side of half-time to aid the Imps’ cause.
Midfielder: Alex Rodman — Shrewsbury Town 2-0 Walsall
With one goal and one assist, Rodman was the catalyst behind the Shrews’ latest victory, one which pulled them two points further clear of Wigan Athletic in the race for automatic promotion.
Midfielder: Lee Martin — Portsmouth 1-3 Gillingham
There may have been a touch of fortune about Martin’s first goal which crept all the way through and into the net, but the Gills skipper’s second to wrap up the win was a thing of beauty.
Midfielder: James Maddison — Hull City 4-3 Norwich City
It’s not often that a player on the losing side makes our selection, but that’s the case with Maddison, who hit a hat-trick as the Canaries were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller.
Midfielder: Bradley Dack - Blackburn Rovers 3-0 Blackpool
A special mention to Adam Armstrong after two goals, but Dack gets the nod after nodding Rovers in front, and teeing up Armstrong, in a typically dominant midfield display at Ewood Park.
Forward: Aleksandar Mitrovic — Preston North End 1-2 Fulham
The super Serb is unstoppable form right now, with his Deepdale double taking him to seven goals in five appearances, while the Cottagers have now gone 15 games without defeat.
Forward: Jack Marriott - Peterborough United 4-1 Charlton Athletic
Back on the goal trail, Marriott helped wrap up an emphatic home victory with a brace, taking him to 27 in all competitions for the season.
Forward: Mohamed Eisa — Swindon Town 0-3 Cheltenham Town
Eisa continued his phenomenal debut season, surpassing the 20-goal mark with two in what was just the Robins’ fourth away win of the campaign.
Manager: Keith Hill — Rotherham United 0-1 Rochdale
After a vital victory at Walsall in midweek, Keith Hill masterminded another win on the road, defeating a Rotherham United side on a run of seven straight wins and 14 undefeated outings.
