Round-up: Midweek EFL action

20 March 2018

Five EFL fixtures were contested on Tuesday night, with encounters in Sky Bet League One and League Two. We look back on them here...

At Sixfields, Northampton Town and Shrewsbury Town played out a 1-1 draw. Shay Facey struck for the Cobblers, before Jon Nolan equalised in the second-half.

Goals from Paddy Madden and Jordy Hiwula saw Fleetwood Town take all three points at Rochdale, with the Cod Army picking up their first win under John Sheridan.

On Wednesday night, Wigan Athletic closed the gap on the League One front runners, easing to victory at Walsall and ruining Dean Keates' maiden match in charge of the Saddlers. Michael Jacobs, Jay Fulton and Chey Dunkley were on target for the Latics.

Crewe Alexandra scored three times and earned the same amount of points, as they saw off Forest Green Rovers 3-1. Jordan Bowery grabbed the headlines, thanks to his brace for the Railwaymen.

An early Jordan Storey strike was enough to see Exeter City defeat Port Vale at Vale Park. The victory ended a run of three matches without a win for Paul Tisdale’s side.

There was nothing to choose between Morecambe and Colchester United, who couldn’t find a breakthrough. That clash finished 0-0 at the Globe Arena.

Wycombe Wanderers ran out winners in Wednesday night's sole encounter, with veteran duo Nathan Tyson and Adebayo Akinfenwa among the goalscorers away at Crawley Town.
