Mansfield Town have moved quickly to announce their new manager, bringing in David Flitcroft from fellow promotion chasers Swindon Town.
Flitcroft, who has guided Swindon to seventh place this term, replaces Steve Evans, who resigned on Tuesday evening before taking up the vacant Peterborough United job.
With the Stags fifth in Sky Bet League Two and firmly in the race for automatic promotion, chairman John Radford believe Flitcroft is the right man to lead the Stags back into League One.
Radford said: "We have acted swiftly and diligently in appointing our new manager and are delighted to welcome David Flitcroft to Mansfield Town Football Club.
"David has a proven track record of success in this division and knows this league well. He has all of the qualities we were looking for and we are greatly looking forward to working with him.”
Matty Taylor will take temporary charge of the Robins, while they search for a permanent replacement.
