The EFL is pleased to announce that Bristol City Chief Executive Mark Ashton will join the EFL Board as an elected representative of the Sky Bet Championship.
Ashton, who has held the position of Chief Executive at Bristol City since January 2016, was voted onto the EFL Board by Championship Clubs for a period of three years and will succeed Burton Albion’s Jez Moxey following the Club’s relegation to League One.
Prior to his current role at Bristol City, Ashton has also held Chief Executive roles at Watford and Oxford United following a 14-year association with West Bromwich Albion. He will now join fellow Championship representatives, Brentford Chairman Cliff Crown and Reading’s Vice Chairman Nigel Howe on the EFL Board.
EFL Chairman Ian Lenagan said: “I am delighted to welcome Mark to the EFL Board.
“Mark is a respected leader of Bristol City, a Club who have a deserved reputation for being innovative and forward thinking in implementing new ideas, whether it’s with fan engagement, developing infrastructure at Ashton Gate or supporting the progress of the first team.
“I have no doubt that Mark’s insight and perspective will be of great benefit to the EFL Board and to all 24 EFL Championship Clubs who he now represents.”
Commenting on his appointment, Ashton said: “I’m honoured to have been appointed to the EFL Board and look forward to representing Bristol City at the top table.
“I would like to thank my fellow football clubs for their vote of support in appointing me and I am looking forward to the prospect of representing them and helping shape the strategic direction of our league.”
Meanwhile, Scunthorpe United Chief Executive, Jim Rodwell has been re-elected to serve as a League One representative on the EFL Board for a second, three-year term.
