The draw for Round One of the 2018/19 Carabao Cup has been completed, with 35 ties selected on Friday 15 June 2018 at a specially held presentation event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Three former EFL Cup winners took part in the event, held at 10.45am BST, with Steve McManaman and Tran Le Anh Thy, General Director of Ngoc Thien Bao [distributer of Carabao in Vietnam] drawing the Northern section, while Louis Saha and the General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, Le Hoai Anh, drew the names out in the Southern Section. Dennis Wise took to the stage to give his assessment of the draw.
It is the second successive season that Carabao Cup draws have taken place overseas, with events being staged in Bangkok and Beijing last season as part of the EFL’s continued efforts to build the value of the competition outside the UK.
The fixtures will take place will take place week commencing 13 August, with this season’s Final scheduled for Sunday 24 February 2019.
