It’s all to play for in the Carabao Cup semi-finals as we move into the respective second-leg ties. Here’s the preview…
A slender Citizens lead
Sergio Aguero’s late strike at the Etihad Stadium two weeks ago ensured Manchester City would have an advantage to take to Bristol City on Tuesday evening.
Pep Guardiola’s men eventually triumphed 2-1 on home turf, but that was all after their Sky Bet Championship opponents had gone ahead through a Bobby Reid penalty.
A second-half finish from Kevin De Bruyne then brought the hosts back on level terms, before Aguero headed the ball past Frank Fielding in the Robins' goal, minutes from time.
However, things are finely poised prior to tonight’s return fixture at Ashton Gate – will Lee Johnson’s side turn this one around?
Deadlocked heading to the Emirates
There was nothing to choose between Chelsea and Arsenal in their first leg encounter at Stamford Bridge, with the two teams playing out a goalless draw.
Both had opportunities to get their noses in front in the first half, with the Gunners’ Alex Iwobi forcing Thibaut Courtois into a smart save, before Cesc Fabregas missed a good headed opportunity, following a Cesar Azpilicueta cross.
Fabregas again went the closest for the Blues after the break, as he saw a deflected delivery clip the post.
Just like Tuesday’s upcoming fixture, the return leg at the Emirates Stadium promises to be an intriguing one, considering the close encounters these two have already had in the current campaign.
As with the first leg, video technology will be used during the second leg in the capital, but not in Bristol City's clash with Manchester City.
Both ties can be viewed live on Sky Sports.
