January Transfer Window: Weekly Round-Up

5 January 2018

The January Transfer Window is open! We've been monitoring the activity of our clubs, and here are a selection of the signings which have been made during the first week.

Wolves are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship, and they have strengthened further with the addition of Rafa Mir from Valencia, a striker who previously played under coach Nuno at the Spanish club.

Preston North End welcomed striker Louis Moult to Deepdale after agreeing a deal with Motherwell last month, and they've bolstered their squad with winger Billy Bodin, who hit 11 goals for Bristol Rovers during the first half of the League One campaign.

Elsewhere, East Anglia rivals Norwich City and Ipswich Town have raided Ireland to pick up two talented teenagers. Simon Power arrives at Carrow Road from UCD, while the Tractor Boys have signed striker Aaron Drinan from Waterford.

Other notable additions

Aapo Halme - HJK Helsinki to Leeds United

Bury had a busy summer of transfer activity, and they are on the lookout again with three January additions so far. Peter Clarke has returned to the Shakers on loan from Oldham Athletic, while Sheffield United striker James Hanson and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Connor Ripley have also joined on a temporary basis.

Northampton Town are another team in the relegation mire and they've snapped up former Nottingham Forest star Hildeberto Pereira on a loan deal, along with Shay Facey from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

Towards the other end of the table, Portsmouth are eyeing back-to-back promotions, and Kenny Jackett has raided former club Wolves to add Sylvain Deslandes and highly rated teenager Connor Ronan for Pompey's play-off push.

Scunthorpe United are another looking up, and have taken Barnsley's Cam McGeehan on loan until the end of the season.

Other notable additions

George Dobson - Sparta Rotterdam to Walsall
Rob Dickie - Reading to Oxford United
Ike Ugbu - Chelsea to Milton Keynes Dons (loan)
Max Lowe - Derby County to Shrewsbury Town (loan)

No new faces at Luton Town so far, but there were a lot of happy ones when boss Nathan Jones signed a new four-year deal with the League Two leaders.

Chesterfield boss Jack Lester has moved quickly, bringing in four new faces to boost the club's survival hopes – goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale (Bournemouth), defender Sid Nelson (Millwall), midfielder Josh Kay (Barnsley) and winger Zavon Hines (Maidstone United).

The Spireites' fellow strugglers Forest Green Rovers have been active too, with Reuben Reid the latest addition to the New Lawn. The striker joins Dayle Grubb (Weston-super-Mare) and Alex Whittle (York City), along with defensive duo Farrend Rawson (Derby County) and Gavin Gunning (Port Vale).

Adam Phillips - Norwich City to Cambridge United (loan)
