Arsenal booked their place in the Carabao Cup Final, coming back from a goal down to defeat London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates.
Following a cautious first leg at Stamford Bridge, both teams came racing out of the blocks, with Chelsea starting the quickest.
Pedro had a header disallowed for offside just five minutes in, but the visitors didn’t have to wait much longer for their lead. Neat interchange from the forward line saw Eden Hazard through on goal, and the Belgian made no mistake, slotting past David Ospina.
The hosts needed a response, and they soon got one. Mesut Ozil’s deep corner found an unmarked Nacho Monreal, and his header diverted off both Marcos Alonso and Antonio Rudiger before settling in the net.
Half-time arrived with the scores still locked at 1-1, although Chelsea had been the better side. After the break though, the tide turned and it was Arsenal who hit the front on the hour.
Alexandre Lacazette did the hard work before the ball found its way to Granit Xhaka, and the Swiss midfielder poked home past Willy Caballero.
Antonio Conte’s men tried in vain to grab an equaliser and force extra time, but it was the Gunners’ night, and it’s Arsene Wenger and his side who will take on Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 25th February 2018.
