The match officials for the first legs of the Carabao Cup Semi-Finals have been announced.
For the first time in EFL competition, both legs of the Chelsea versus Arsenal last-four tie will involve the use of video assistant referees (VAR), after the EFL committed to support English football’s contribution to the live trial taking place across world football.
Martin Atkinson has been appointed as the referee for the first leg of the all-London affair, with Steve Child and Peter Kirkup the assistant referees. Jon Moss has been appointed the fourth official. Neil Swarbrick will be operating as the VAR, with Mick McDonough as his assistant.
Anthony Taylor has been appointed as the referee for the Manchester City versus Bristol City Semi-Final first leg, with Lee Betts and Marc Perry the assistant referees. The fourth official is Lee Mason. VAR is not in operation in either leg of of this semi-final tie.
VAR will be in operation at the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley on Sunday 25th February.
