Team of the Week: Matchday 34

26 February 2018

Matchday 34 has concluded and, with that, we’ve selected 11 of the best performers from across the EFL. Here’s the Team of the Week…

Goalkeeper: Aaron Chapman - Accrington Stanley 1-0 Cambridge United

Chapman kept a clean sheet as Stanley climbed to second place in the Sky Bet League Two table, denying the likes of Jevani Brown and Uche Ikpeazu in the process.

Defender: Clark Robertson - Portsmouth 0-2 Blackpool

The 24-year-old was part of the visiting defence which frustrated Pompey but, as well as turning in an impressive display at the back, Robertson weighed in with a goal to seal the win.

Defender: Tim Ream - Fulham 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Ream stood tall in the Fulham defence, as he and the Cottagers superbly nullified the threat of the Sky Bet Championship leaders in yet another home win.

Defender: Adam Webster - Preston North End 0-1 Ipswich Town

Impressive in the air and on the ground, Webster was part of a formidable Ipswich defence which helped preserve a one-goal lead at Deepdale.

Midfielder: Robert Snodgrass - Sheffield Wednesday 2-4 Aston Villa

The Scotsman firstly laid on an assist for Glenn Whelan to level Villa’s encounter with the Owls at 2-2, before cooly dispatching a penalty to wrap up the points in injury time.

Midfielder: Joe Newell - Rotherham United 2-1 Doncaster Rovers

A dramatic turnaround from the Millers saw them extend their League One winning streak to seven matches, as Newell set up Michael Smith, ahead of winning the game from the spot at the death.

Midfielder: Lee Tomlin - Queens Park Rangers 2-5 Nottingham Forest

An EFL Star of the Day performance from Tomlin helped Forest secure an emphatic victory against Queens Park Rangers. The 29-year-old provided an assist, while finding the net twice too.

Midfielder: Zeli Ismail - Bury 2-1 Gillingham

Ismail teed up both Neil Danns and Harry Bunn in the Shakers’ defeat of the Gills — a win that moved he and his teammates off the bottom of the table.

Forward: Kevin Ellison - Wycombe Wanderers 2-4 Morecambe

Marking your 39th birthday with two goals isn’t the worst way to celebrate, with Ellison rifling home a superb strike initially, prior to heading home at the far post to double his tally at Adams Park.

Forward: Danny Graham - Walsall 1-2 Blackburn Rovers

Graham’s two goals at Banks’s Stadium proved enough for three points, which preserved Rovers’ place at the top of Sky Bet League One.

Forward: Jordan Bowery - Lincoln City 1-4 Crewe Alexandra

Sticking with the theme of braces, that takes us to Sincil Bank, where Bowery’s double formed part of an outstanding away performance from the Railwaymen.

Manager: Jose Morais - Birmingham City 0-2 Barnsley

A special mention for Oli McBurnie, who was unlucky not to feature in this week’s selection, but his manager gets a spot after guiding the Tykes to a crucial victory and securing his first three points in English football.
