Prutton: "Championship fascinating to watch"

13 December 2018

Sky Sports’ English Football League presenter David Prutton says the quality of football in the Sky Bet Championship has been fascinating to watch.

Norwich City lead the way in the Championship by a point to second-placed Leeds United, and Prutton says Daniel Farke has benefited from time in the job after a slow start to the season.

“Norwich are at the top of the table by a slender point to Leeds United and then those two have opened up a slender gap to the play-off places, and for me it has been fascinating,” said Prutton.

“Daniel Farke has benefited from the patience shown to him by the board, and Leeds have been rewarded, so far, by the change in the way they are playing.

“I think when you watch Norwich City and how good they have been in the very dying minutes of the games, they have been very entertaining.”

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side came from behind to see off Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road last time out in the Championship, and Prutton says his old side have recaptured their former identity.

He added: “The fundamentals are there for Bielsa’s side that fans love, the hard work, the aggression and the young players who have come into the side, for me there are about 10 teams looking at the play-offs or promotion as a bare minimum.

“The change in Leeds United is something all Leeds fans would be very appreciative of, and it seems like this year, the standard across the board gas gone up.

“You don’t have one team sticking out like Wolverhampton Wanderers did last season but from an entertainment point of view there is hardly a dull week.”
