EFL highlights presenter Colin Murray says he wants a northern team to get promoted from the Sky Bet Championship this season.
The Northern Irishman says he won’t put his neck on the line and give an outright prediction, but has admitted he’d like to see a Yorkshire club come out on top.
He said: “I want to see a Leeds United or a Sheffield United - a proper northern club – win promotion. I don’t think it’ll be Sheffield Wednesday this season and I am not leaving them out for any reason.
“Any Yorkshire club really, I don’t think it will happen this season either but someone like Bristol City as well - it is a part of the country that hasn’t had a Premier League side.”
Murray has been the presenter of the EFL’s highlights show since the beginning of the 2017/18 season, and says he hasn’t got a bias towards any team inside the Sky Bet Championship, League One or League Two.
“Sometimes I am more biased by the area than the teams themselves; I don’t really support any teams within the EFL if I am being honest,” he added.
“I do have a very soft spot for Chester, so if by any miracle or a few seasons from now they make it into League Two, you might see the bias kick in.”
