Carabao Cup: Bradley Dack named Player of Round One

Blackburn Rovers midfielder claims inaugural award

21 August 2018

Bradley Dack has been named Carabao Cup Player of the Round, becoming the first player to receive the award which has been newly introduced for the 2018/19 season.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder starred in the club's emphatic Round One victory at Carlisle United, scoring twice and assisting the other three goals in the 5-1 win at Brunton Park.

Demonstrating wonderful vision to tee up two goals for Adam Armstrong, Dack also showed tenacity in winning the ball for Kasey Palmer to score, and he added a brace himself with a close-range effort and a stunning strike from outside the box.

Dack was shortlisted alongside three other players – Ollie Rathbone of Rochdale, Rhys Taylor of Macclesfield Town and Mansfield Town's hat-trick hero Tyler Walker – but it was the 24-year-old who came out on top in a public vote on the official Carabao Cup Twitter account.
