Bradley Dack claimed the Carabao Cup Player of the Round award for his performance against Carlisle United in Round One, and the Blackburn Rovers midfielder is keen to progress further in this season's competition.
After scoring two and making the other three in the 5-1 rout in Cumbria, Rovers face another test against League Two opposition in Round Two – leaders Lincoln City.
Upon being presented with the Round One honour, an award newly introduced this season, the 24-year-old said: “It’s nice to get an award like this so early in the season, and I want to thank all of the fans who voted.
“It was a good game, it was a tough game – Carlisle are a good side. We knew that because we played them in pre-season last year and got beat, so we knew we all had to be at it and luckily we were on the night. I got off the mark in the first league game of the season at Ipswich, so it was nice to carry that on with two goals against Carlisle.
“The gaffer wanted to continue the momentum that we’d started the season with so he played a strong team, he didn’t make many changes, and that early in the season I don’t really think there’s any need to rest people. We all want to play, I was happy to play and I think everyone else was.
“We’ve got Lincoln now in the next round. Again, we played them in pre-season and they gave us a good game. They’re quite direct and physical, so it was a tough day and it will be another tough game, but it’s nice to be at home. I’m sure we’ll field another strong team and hopefully we can get a result.
“It’s a knockout competition and we all believe in our squad. Everyone enjoys a good cup run, whether it be the League Cup or the FA Cup, and the fans enjoy it as well, so we’ll be doing everything we can to continue in the competition.”
The Carabao Cup Round Two ties will be played across Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 August, with the Round Three Draw taking place on Thursday evening.
