Wycombe Wanderers have been promoted to League One following an eventful afternoon on the penultimate weekend of the season.
At the start of play, Gareth Ainsworth knew his side needed three points and other results to go their way if they were to wrap up automatic promotion before the final day.
Things started well for them with Exeter City and Notts County — the two sides who could deny Wycombe — both trailing after half an hour. However, Michael Harriman’s 39th-minute own goal put the Chairboys behind too, to the already-relegated Chesterfield.
However, Nathan Tyson brought Wycombe Wanderers level on the stroke of half-time and, with 15 minutes to go, Dominic Gape smashed home the winner to send the travelling faithful into raptures.
“Four years of solid graft” pays off.

Wycombe will now play third-tier football for the first time since 2011/12, where they will join League Two champions Accrington Stanley and Luton Town, who will finish the current campaign in second spot.
