An opening month filled with stunning strikes, here are some of the best to make up August’s Sky Bet Goal of the Month competition.
Andreas Bouchalakis: NOTTINGHAM FOREST v Brentford – 12th August
After scoring a first-half stunner, Bouchalakis bettered it when he collected a Barrie McKay pass and swept home a dreamy left-foot shot which arched into the far corner.
Andre Green: ASTON VILLA v Norwich City – 19th August
Impudent and laconic in the same moment. Announcing himself to the Holte End in style, Green jockeyed his defender, then opened up his body to curl home superbly.
Ezgjan Alioski: LEEDS UNITED v Nottingham Forest – 26th August
Alioski knew exactly what to do when the ball ran loose outside the Forest box. Two quick touches were followed by a rapier-like shot which nestled in the bottom corner.
Conor Townsend: SCUNTHORPE UNITED v AFC Wimbledon – 5th August
Just six minutes into the new season, Townsend joined the attack, created space by dragging the ball backwards and clipped a perfectly flighted shot into the far corner.
Gino van Kessel: OXFORD UNITED v Portsmouth – 12th August
It was the dazzling speed of mind and foot which made Van Kessel’s debut goal special. He nipped outside one defender then inside another before sweeping home.
Sean Longstaff: BLACKPOOL v Doncaster Rovers – 19th August
Moments after seeing his side go behind, Longstaff had no other idea in his head than to unleash a piledriver from 30 yards which flew unerringly high into the net.
Alan McCormack: LUTON TOWN v Yeovil Town – 5th August
Standing 35 yards out at a corner, McCormack strode forward to a dropping ball and let fly with an unstoppable dipping volley over the crowd of players in front of him.
Billy Knott: LINCOLN CITY v Carlisle United – 26th August
Picking up a loose ball 10 yards outside the box, Knott instinctively allowed the ball to run across his body before curling an exquisite left-footed shot into the far corner.
Frank Nouble: NEWPORT COUNTY v Chesterfield – 26th August
How to begin a 13-minute hat-trick in style. Nouble intercepted a pass, saw defenders drop off him and struck a hammerhead 25-yard shot into the top corner.
Voting closes on Tuesday 12th September, with the winners announced on Friday 15th September.
