EFL Matchday 9 commenced on Friday night, with fixtures being played in both Sky Bet League One and League Two.
Milton Keynes Dons recorded a 2-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
The visitors took charge in the opening period, and struck twice inside the first 26 minutes. On loan Southampton man Ryan Seager got the scoring under way with a first-time finish, following a run down the left flank from Osman Sow.
That advantage was then doubled by Gboly Ariyibi, who dispatched the ball after the home defence couldn’t deal with a Scott Golbourne cross.
After the interval, the hosts almost got themselves back in the game, but Lyle Taylor was denied from the penalty spot by opposing ‘keeper Lee Nicholls.
There would be no further goals, meaning that it’s now back-to-back league victories for Robbie Neilson’s side.
Late goals from Olly Lancashire and Matty Taylor saw Swindon Town defeat Forest Green Rovers 2-0 away from home.
In a tight first-half, both sides had chances, but couldn’t find a breakthrough — with the scoreline goalless at the break.
The breakthrough eventually came, five minutes from time. Lancashire was the man who got it, as he bundled home Taylor’s corner.
Taylor then went from provider to goalscorer — sealing the victory with a terrific strike from 25-yards out.
The win is Swindon’s third in their last four league matches, with the triumph moving them up to fourth in the table, ahead of Saturday’s action.
