Sunderland: Simon Grayson departs

31 October 2017

Sunderland and Simon Grayson parted ways on Tuesday evening following the 3-3 Sky Bet Championship draw with bottom club Bolton Wanderers.

The Black Cats remained in the bottom three with the point gained but climbed one place, although that wasn't enough to give Grayson a stay of execution.

Following relegation from the Premier League last term, Sunderland sit 22nd in the division with 10 points from 15 games, and they have equalled an unwanted record in English football after the midweek draw at the Stadium of Light – 19 games without a home win.

Billy McKinlay and Robbie Stockdale will take joint charge for their weekend visit to Middlesbrough in the Tees-Wear derby.
