There’s action from both Sky Bet League One and League Two this weekend, with no Championship fixtures due to the international break. Here’s our matchday preview…
Four on the spin for Shrimpers?
Three successive victories have seen Southend United move to within three points of the play-off places.
Picking up wins over Fleetwood Town, AFC Wimbledon, and Blackpool, Phil Brown’s team head into this weekend’s away encounter against Doncaster Rovers in confident mood.
And why not? Darren Ferguson’s side sit 19th in the table, and are yet to register three points at the Keepmoat Stadium this season.
Sunday action in Kent
The Sky Bet League One weekend comes to a close on Sunday afternoon, when Gillingham host Portsmouth at Priestfield Stadium.
It’s the first league meeting between the two sides in over 14 years and both clubs will be looking for maximum points following respective defeats last time out.
Gillingham, who currently have Peter Taylor in caretaker charge, are 23rd in the standings, with their opponents occupying 15th spot.

The EFL’s only unbeaten outfit are League One leaders Shrewsbury Town. The Shrews travel to Walsall this Saturday, targeting a 10th league victory.
Their closest challengers at present are Wigan Athletic, who make the trip to North Lincolnshire to face Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park.
Third-placed Bradford City are also on the road, with Milton Keynes Dons their opposition at Stadium MK.

League leaders to respond?
Following their loss at Mansfield last Saturday, Kevin Nolan’s Notts County have the opportunity to get back on track when Forest Green Rovers visit Meadow Lane.
Mark Cooper and his players are bottom of the table at present, but could rise out of the relegation zone with just a single point — if results go in their favour.
The two clubs’ only previous match-up came in the FA Cup in 2010, with the Magpies prevailing 2-1.
Third meets fifth
Two points and two places separate them and, this weekend, Accrington Stanley and Luton Town clash at the Crown Ground.
The hosts hold the advantage when it comes to league positioning, however, a win for the Hatters would soon change that.
Both also go into the game off the back of four wins in their last six outings, while additionally only losing twice each so far in the campaign.
Around the grounds
Saturday’s programme begins with a lunchtime fixture at the Hive Stadium, as Barnet play host to Coventry City.
A convincing 4-1 triumph over Morecambe got Exeter City back on the winning trail and, next up for them, is a trip to Brunton Park to take on Carlisle United.
New Port Vale boss Neil Aspin will be hoping to get off to a winning start in his first game in charge of the Valiants — they face Grimsby Town at Vale Park. Chesterfield's Jack Lester notched a Checkatrade Trophy triumph in midweek, and goes looking for his first EFL win at Lincoln City.
Among the other fixtures, top-seven occupants Stevenage and Wycombe Wanderers are on the road at Crewe Alexandra and Cambridge United respectively, while Cheltenham Town host Swindon Town in a battle of the Robins.
