Player of the Month: September nominees

4 October 2017

The September Player of the Month nominees for Sky Bet League One are:

Michael Jacobs (Wigan Athletic)

An outstanding month from a player whose imagination and unpredictability make him almost impossible to mark. Equally happy dribbling or dinking a pass into his strikers, his two goals included a stunning 30-yard winner against Northampton.

Kieffer Moore (Rotherham United)

Five goals and two assists in seven games earned Moore a second successive nomination. Powerful in the air and bullish on the ground, the on-loan Ipswich striker is the focal point of a free-scoring Rotherham attack.

Brett Pitman (Portsmouth)

Brought to Fratton Park to score goals, Pitman did exactly that in September with six in seven games. A classic predator, he broke his nose scoring his first goal against Fleetwood, but stayed on and added a second with a lovely curler.

Richard Smallwood (Blackburn Rovers)

The 26-year-old has quickly earned himself cult hero status at Ewood Park with his non-stop tackling style. Breaking up play and winning the ball for others, he also managed an assist and a clever volleyed goal in the 3-0 win at Rochdale.

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Mikey Mumford.

The winner will be announced on Friday 6th October 2017.
