Round-up: Sky Bet EFL midweek fixtures

29 November 2017

There were four Tuesday night fixtures in the EFL, with two from the Championship and two from League One. Here’s a brief review…

Ipswich Town denied Derby County a third straight success with midweek victory at Pride Park, where Callum Connolly’s fifth-minute goal settled matters.

Reading were triumphant in the night’s other Championship fixture, with goals from David Edwards, Joey van den Berg and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson sealing a 3-0 success over Barnsley. The Tykes have now lost three in a row, failing to score in each of those outings.

There were just two games but no lack of entertainment in League One on Tuesday night, with Blackburn Rovers registering a 4-2 victory at Blackpool to move into fourth position.

Marcus Antonsson’s goal was soon cancelled out by Kelvin Mellor, but strikes from Bradley Dack, Charlie Mulgrew and Paul Downing put the visitors out of reach before Danny Philliskirk’s consolation.

Peterborough United looked to have three points in the bag, leading 2-0 at Charlton Athletic in stoppage time, but the Addicks had other ideas — Ricky Holmes and Karlan Ahearne-Grant netting late on to salvage a share of the spoils for the Addicks.
