Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final: Steve Morison fires Millwall to victory

20 May 2017

Steve Morison was the hero for Millwall as he fired them to a 1-0 victory over Bradford City in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final.

With a fast-paced game seemingly heading to extra-time, the Lions talisman finished from close range in the 85th minute after a cross was flicked on by Lee Gregory.

That meant it was joy for Neil Harris and his men, 12 months on from their Play-Off Final defeat to Barnsley, and they return to the Sky Bet Championship after a two-season absence.

Morison’s goal was one of only a handful of chances during the 90 minutes, which was played out in front of 53,320 supporters, and the first went Bradford’s way.

There was 14 minutes on the clock when the Bantams launched a devastating counter attack, and it ended with Billy Clarke being denied by a stunning Jordan Archer save.

Other than the goal, Millwall’s best chance fell to Jed Wallace midway through the second half, but he dragged his right-footed effort wide.

With extra-time looking likely, Morison got on the end of Gregory’s flick on - a partnership that has proved so effective for Millwall - to send the blue and white half of Wembley into raptures, and the Lions back to the Sky Bet Championship.
