Sky Bet EFL Play-Off Finals: Faryl Smith to sing national anthem at Wembley finals

17 May 2017

British mezzo-soprano Faryl Smith will sing the national anthem prior to all three 2016/17 Sky Bet Play-Off Finals.

The League One finale between Bradford City and Millwall is the first of three Wembley showpieces, and forms part of a special 30-year anniversary celebration of the EFL Play-Offs’ introduction to English football.

The following weekend sees Smith back under the arch as the Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet League Two seasons reach their conclusion.

Smith, 21, has experience of performing at the national stadium for the EFL, having sang at a number of previous Play-Off and Trophy Finals.

Smith rose to fame as a stand-out star on Britain’s Got Talent at the age of 13, and her debut album became the fastest-selling solo classical album in British history.

Northamptonshire-born Smith is used to being on the grandest of stages, having performed alongside some of the genre’s greats — such as Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo — during her career, and has sang in front of Her Majesty The Queen and other Great British Royals on multiple occasions.
