The winners of the Sky Bet EFL Manager and Player of the Month awards for April 2017 have been announced.Sheffield United were celebrating yet again, with boss Chris Wilder and striker Leon Clarke getting their hands on the Sky Bet League One awards following a perfect month.
April saw Wilder guide his Blades to six wins from six, promotion, and the title, before hitting the 100-point mark in their final fixture. The clinical Clarke hit six goals in that period.
Their city rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, tasted success, too. Carlos Carvalhal led his side to the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs courtesy of an unbeaten April, and was rewarded with the division's Manager of the Month prize.
Reading could well face the Owls in the post-season, and Yann Kermorgant's fine haul of seven goals in seven games will strike fear into whoever comes up against the Royals. The 35-year-old's exploits earned him the Player of the Month for April.
In Sky Bet League Two, Paul Cook claimed the Manager of the Month honour, following an unbeaten April which saw Portsmouth clinch promotion, and have a shot at the title on the final day of the season.
The Player of the Month award went to a man who has impressed at the opposite end of the table. Newport County defender Mickey Demetriou scored three goals, and helped his side to four clean sheets, as the Exiles climbed out of the division's relegation zone.
