John Brayford (Burton Albion) – defenderEpitomised Burton’s battling spirit with telling contributions all month. Used his experience, nous and determination to make goal-line clearances against Huddersfield Town and Aston Villa. Also made another vital block late on at Barnsley.
Stefan Johansen (Fulham) – midfielder
Classy displays throughout April from the Norwegian. Athletic with stamina to burn and superb technique, he complements Fulham’s style perfectly. Four goals in the month included two in the 4-1 victory at promotion rivals Huddersfield.
Yann Kermorgant (Reading) – striker
In the month in which he announced he will retire at the end of next season, the Frenchman showed he is still at the top of his game with seven goals in as many games, including a one-man highlights reel of textbook powerful headers.
Glenn Murray (Brighton & Hove Albion) – striker
Scored the opening goal in each of Brighton’s wins over Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Wigan Athletic as they earned promotion. Allied to his superb reading of the game, he is calmness personified where others hurry in front of goal.
