TV Games: Bumper Easter weekend of EFL action on Sky Sports

2 March 2017

An action-packed weekend of Easter football has been confirmed today, with five EFL games to be screened live on Sky Sports across Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday.

It’s a Sky Bet Championship double-header up first on Good Friday with matches featuring the division’s top two sure to have an impact on the title run-in.

Chris Hughton will be looking to put the pressure on his promotion-chasing rivals by ensuring his Brighton & Hove Albion team pick up three points away at Wolves in a 5pm kick-off.

It’s then the turn of the current League leaders Newcastle United, who host play-off placed Leeds United at St James’ Park in a crucial 7:45pm clash.

An EFL triple-header follows on Bank Holiday Monday, starting with an all-Yorkshire clash in Sky Bet League One as Bradford City make the short journey to Bramall Lane for a tough tie with table-topping Sheffield United in a 12:15pm kick-off.

Aston Villa’s first visit to Craven Cottage since 2013 is up next in a 2:45pm kick-off, before the final tie of the bumper Easter weekend sees David Wagner take his Huddersfield Town team to Derby County for a 5pm fixture.

The EFL and Sky are currently working to a rolling five-week minimum commitment as we approach the business end of the season. Further fixtures for April will be announced as they are confirmed.

This process is part of the EFL’s joint commitment with broadcast partner Sky to ensure all clubs and supporters are given a minimum of five weeks’ notice ahead of any matches being rescheduled for live television coverage.

The advanced notice is designed to provide supporters with as much time as possible to allow for any alterations to travel plans that may be required.

The confirmed list of games selected for live coverage are as follows:

Fri 14 Apr: Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brighton & Hove Albion (5:00pm)
Fri 14 Apr: Newcastle United v Leeds United (7:45pm)
Mon 17 Apr: Sheffield United v Bradford City (12:15pm)
