Stevenage striker Matt Godden has been named the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month for February.
Six goals in six games for the bustling centre forward whose all-action style harries defenders into mistakes and demonstrates his commitment.Godden’s two late goals at Crawley secured a come-from-behind win for promotion-chasing Stevenage.
The front man said: “I am delighted to win Player of the Month. It is a big honour and something I am very proud of.
“It has been a great month and I am in the form of my life. As a team we have been doing fantastic recently and it has been a perfect storm.
“It is nice to get individual accolades but I couldn’t do it without my team-mates.”
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Godden scored vital goals for his side in February as Stevenage made a charge for the Play-Off places.
“His 13 league goals since the turn of the year, puts him two ahead of Harry Kane at the top of the charts for 2017 across the top four leagues - it doesn't get much more impressive than that!''
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Matt Godden’s fine run of form coincides with a great winning run for his team, and the front man’s goals have been pivotal in their rise up the table.
“The former Ebbsfleet marksman has stepped up two divisions this season but has found the back of the net just as easy to find in Sky Bet League Two, particularly since the turn of the year.
“A six-goal haul in February has leading scorer John Akinde looking over his shoulder at Godden, who has shot up the scoring charts."
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
