Fleetwood Town: 18 games unbeaten, up to second - what next?

6 March 2017

Two months in which your lives could change.

That was part of the message that Uwe Rosler delivered to his Fleetwood Town players after their latest victory, against promotion rivals Scunthorpe United.

It was a win that moved the Cod Army above the Iron up to second in Sky Bet League One, and a result that extended their unbeaten record to an impressive 18 matches.

When the sequence started way back in November, Rosler's side sat 13th and looking at a season of mid-table mediocrity.

Now they're firmly in the promotion mix, already notching their best-ever points tally in League One, and looking ahead to the two-month run-in, which could see Fleetwood reach the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in history.

"We have reached our next target which was 63 points – the best points target this club has ever had," Rosler told fleetwoodtownfc.com. "Whatever happens now it is the best season this club has ever had.

"I said to the players that there are two more months to go and they will require a lot of sacrifices, but they could change your life.

“There was no way I could have imagined this when I walked in here just before the season started. Nobody could.

“I will sit and talk with the players [about our next target], we will do this next week as there is no midweek game. The next target will be ambitious and achievable for us.”
