Newport County have made their 11th January signing with the addition of Ryan Bird. The striker has moved to the Exiles on a permanent deal having had previous spells in the EFL with Portsmouth, Cambridge United, Hartlepool United and Yeovil Town.
The 29-year-old joins a team sitting rock-bottom of Sky Bet League Two, five points from safety and winless in 10 matches, stretching back to mid-November.
County have been the busiest EFL team in the January transfer window as they aim to avoid the drop.

“Ryan has a strong track record in situations like ours and in our league,” the boss told newport-county.co.uk.
“He is both a target man and an able runner, essential ingredients on our pitch.
“He provides a perfect platform, especially at home, where his presence will help us to build our attacking game in our opponents’ defensive third.”
