Souleymane Doukara (Leeds United) v Nottingham Forest - 25th January

Leeds United midfielder Souleymane Doukara is the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month winner for January, after receiving 69% of the public vote.

A headed clearance dropped to Doukara. With impeccable technique and exquisite timing, he struck a volley so sweetly into the top corner, it almost broke the net.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: “It was an incredible selection of goals in the Championship this month, from silky dribbling from Lawrence, to innovation and technical brilliance from Osbourne.

“But the winner had to be Doukara, for a simply sensational net-busting volley.”

Doukara said: “I’m happy with the award. It’s a good trophy for me, the first one in England. As soon as the ball came back to me, I just tried to hit it.

“I looked at it for one second and ran away to celebrate, because I knew it was in. I was laughing on the pitch because I knew it was a good goal.”

Doukara beat off competition from Ipswich Town’s Tom Lawrence and Nottingham Forest’s Ben Osborne.

Josh Morris – (Scunthorpe United) v Northampton Town - 14th January

Scunthorpe United striker Josh Morris is the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month winner for January, after receiving 49% of the public vote.

On a Scunthorpe counter-attack, Morris knew exactly what to do. He picked up the ball in space, slipped it on to his left foot and curled home an unstoppable shot.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: “Morris has been in scintillating form for the majority of this season and his goals have been crucial in Scunthorpe’s strong promotion push.

“This one was the pick of the bunch and what I’m impressed by is how he expects to score as soon as he picks up the ball, curling it into the top corner from 30 yards.”

Morris said: “I'm obviously delighted to win it. It's nice to win it from a fans vote as well, which makes it extra special.

“It shows the support we've had this season and it's been all over Twitter and social media, so a big thank you to everyone who has decided to get on their computers and phones to vote.

“To win the three points in the game makes it extra special, it was a good strike and it's nice to take the points and get the personal accolade from it as well.

“It was a long ball forward from Charlie [Goode] and the defender knocked it down to me. I took a few touches and decided to hit it. It was a good strike and probably one of the best I've scored.

“It was one of those strikes that you hit really well and you know it's in."

Morris beat off competition from MK Don’s Chuks Aneke and Northampton Town’s Gregg Wylde.

Gavin Massey – (Leyton Orient) v Portsmouth - 14th January

Leyton Orient forward Gavin Massey is the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month winner for January, after receiving 55% of the public vote.

A game of head tennis ended when Nigel Atangana laid the ball off on the edge of the box for Massey to whip a majestic curling shot into the far corner.

Lead Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month judge and Sky Sports Pundit Don Goodman said: “It’s undoubtedly been a tough season on and off the pitch for Orient, but this strike was sure to bring a smile to everyone associated with the club.

“He was begging for the ball to be rolled in front of him, and when it was he knew exactly what he was going to do, executing the curling strike to perfection.”

Pick that out! 👏⚽

Massey said: “It is great to be recognised for the goal and it’s the first time in my career I have won the award so that makes it even more special.

“The only disappointment was that the goal didn’t help us pick up a positive result on the day.”

Massey beat off competition from Newport County’s Dan Butler and Accrington Stanley’s Shay McCartan.
