Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month nominations - January 2017

9 February 2017

The nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for January 2017.

Tom Lawrence (Ipswich Town)

Given the freedom to roam, he scored four and set up the other of Ipswich’s five goals. And what goals they were. His silky effort at Preston topped even the long-range strikes against Blackburn and QPR in his personal goal of the month competition.

Joe Ralls (Cardiff City)

The 23-year-old is fast becoming his side’s midfield general. His work ethic and enthusiasm are infectious while he relishes a tackle. His stamina is impressive, too, while his two goals in the month included the winner against Aston Villa.

David Stockdale (Brighton & Hove Albion)

A second successive nomination for Stockdale whose agility and reactions proved vital in all three of Brighton’s wins. Busy against Cardiff, a penalty save at Fulham was bettered by his remarkable penalty double save against Sheffield Wednesday.

Chris Wood (Leeds United)

Six goals in four games for the frontman who has become the symbol of his club’s on-field renaissance. Showed variety in his finishing with tap-ins, towering headers and a beautiful chest control and volley against Rotherham.

The winner will be announced on Friday.
