TV Games: Promotion contenders selected for Sky Sports

Five of the current top six in the Sky Bet Championship have been selected to appear live on Sky Sports in the latest round of confirmed TV fixtures.

Bristol City’s visit to Derby County is up first, with the two in-form teams going head-to-head in a Friday night fixture at Pride Park on 19th January.

Sheffield Wednesday will then host a familiar face on Saturday 20th January, when former rival manager Neil Warnock returns to the Steel City with current team Cardiff City in a 5:30pm kick-off.

Lee Johnson’s Robins then feature for a second time, with their visit to Bolton Wanderers on Friday 2nd February selected for live broadcast at 8pm, before current leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers host Sheffield United at Molineux on Saturday 3rd February.

Further TV selections for February will be announced in due course.

The list of games selected for live coverage are as follows:

Throughout the course of the 2017/18 season, Sky Sports will exclusively show 127 live matches from the Sky Bet EFL season - including the Play-Offs - as well as 15 matches from the Carabao Cup and at least three from the Checkatrade Trophy.

TV SELECTION DATES 2017/18 (Illustrative but subject to a five-week minimum notice commitment)

  • Clubs notified of selections for 10th February to 3rd March by 29th December
  • Clubs notified of selections for 10th March to 31st March by 19th January
  • From 23rd February, a minimum five-week rolling selection commences for matches up to and including the penultimate weekend;
  • Clubs notified of selections for the final day made following the completion of the penultimate round of matches.

NB: The EFL has committed to publicly announcing any fixture changes within three working days in order to give EFL supporters as much time as is possible to allow for any alterations to travel plans that may be required.
