Sheffield United and Bristol City kicked off the Sky Bet EFL weekend on Friday night, with the away side taking all three points in a 2-1 victory at Bramall Lane.
The hosts threatened in the opening period and were unlucky not to take the lead when Mark Duffy struck the post with a free-kick from the left.
Chris Wilder’s men were denied once more just before the interval, with Billy Sharp the next to be frustrated, as visiting ‘keeper Frank Fielding pushed the striker’s header onto the crossbar.
However, with a 0-0 half-time scoreline looming, the Robins struck. They went ahead courtesy of a Jamie Paterson strike from the edge of the area, after he’d been teed up by Josh Brownhill.

The Blades’ response in the second-half was almost immediate. Leon Clarke got them back into the game with a finish from inside the penalty area.

Then, just before the hour mark, United were reduced to 10 men when John Fleck was dismissed for a foul on Korey Smith.
A winner came for the visitors with minutes left on the clock, as Aden Flint fired home at the far post, following Bobby Reid’s cross.
