Scott Murray made 426 appearances for Bristol City across two lengthy spells with the club, establishing himself firmly on the list of Robins legends. Nowadays, he’s the club kitman, and is therefore no stranger to the Ashton Gate faithful.
The Aberdonian caught those supporters off guard this week, however. Dressed as an elf, Murray went wandering around the city to give out some special gifts to followers of Lee Johnson’s side — tickets to tonight’s Carabao Cup Round Five tie with Manchester United.
“It’s probably one of the funniest outfits I’ve ever worn,” the former winger laughed, in response to being quizzed about the fancy dress. “The Community Trust asked me if I could go out dressed as an elf to go around surprising people.
“It was good fun, we had a laugh and people got some nice tickets for the big match on Wednesday night.”
Murray spoke with EFL on the excitement around the Bristol City squad at the moment, and you can watch the full video here.
