The EFL weekend got under way on Friday night, with Burton Albion coming out on top against Birmingham City in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
The hosts had yet to pick up a point in 2017/18, and they found themselves behind after half an hour when Jacques Maghoma struck from close range against his former club.
However, Nigel Clough’s men came racing out of the blocks after the break, and they found themselves level on 50 minutes, when Marvin Sordell turned and fired an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner.
The turnaround was complete just over a quarter of an hour later, Lucas Akins’ backheel finding Lloyd Dyer, and he found room inside the box to beat David Stockdale.
Harry Redknapp’s side couldn’t respond, and the Brewers held on to win 2-1 and get their campaign up and running.
