Carabao Cup: Goal Line Technology

8 August 2017

The Hawk-Eye Goal Line Technology (GLT) system will not be operational at a number of Championship grounds during this evening’s Carabao Cup Round One ties.

GLT was introduced into the Championship last weekend but some final testing on a number of systems is still required when operated under floodlights. The systems have been fully tested to work in natural light conditions.

However, given that the second half of tonight’s ties will be required to be played under the lights, the EFL cannot be in a position to allow a situation to occur whereby the same conditions do not exist for the full 90 minutes and therefore has instructed those clubs affected to not use the technology.

GLT will not be operational at the following ties:

Barnsley v Morecambe
Birmingham City v Crawley Town
Bristol City v Plymouth Argyle
Millwall v Stevenage
Queens Park Rangers v Northampton Town
Sheffield Wednesday v Chesterfield
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Yeovil Town

GLT will be operational at the following ties:

Cardiff City v Portsmouth
Norwich City v Swindon Town
Nottingham Forest v Shrewsbury Town
Reading v Gillingham
