EFL Awards: Doncaster Rovers’ John Marquis named Sky Bet League Two Player of the Season

10 April 2017

Doncaster Rovers striker John Marquis has been named the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Season at the 2017 EFL Awards.

The 24-year-old striker has scored 26 times for Rovers this season, as they sealed an immediate return back to Sky Bet League One.

Marquis beat off competition from team-mate James Coppinger and Luton Town’s Danny Hylton to pick up the prize.

After winning the award, Marquis said: “It has been a fantastic season and I cannot express how much I have enjoyed it.

“I have been playing in a team that is doing really well, winning often and providing me with lots of chances to score.

“We have got over the line and got promoted and we want to win the league now.”
