EFL Awards: Brighton’s Anthony Knockaert named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season

10 April 2017

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Anthony Knockaert has been named as the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season.

The Frenchman has been influential in the Seagulls’ title charge, with his skill and trickery causing opposition defences problems all season.

Knockaert, who started for Brighton in their latest win - a 2-1 victory at Queens Park Rangers - is the division’s highest-scoring midfielder with 13 league goals.

He beat off competition from Leeds United striker Chris Wood and Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle to earn the award.

He said: “I am very happy that I have won the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season. I thank my team-mates for this and everyone connected with Brighton.

“The award means a lot to me and I am happy that I have achieved an award like this in my career. I will keep on working hard for the rest of the season and keep on doing what I have been doing.”

Ladies and gentlemen, here are your 2016/17 @SkyBet#EFL Players of the Season. 👏#EFLAwardspic.twitter.com/W3V2RrnEAj
