The nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award for August 2016.
Nigel Clough (Burton Albion)With a small squad and limited budget, Burton Albion were expected to struggle in their first-ever Sky Bet Championship season, but Clough guided them to two wins and a draw in August, including a famous 1-0 victory over neighbours Derby.
Paul Heckingbottom (Barnsley)
New division? No problem for the man whose managerial experience only began in February. He stayed true to his attacking beliefs as his side led all Championship forward lines, scoring 12 goals to win three of their five games.
Lee Johnson (Bristol City)
Johnson made light of having to face all three relegated clubs in August. Always willing to change tactics to alter the course of a game, his bravery helped his side gain nine points from five outings, two of which were won from a goal behind.
David Wagner (Huddersfield Town)
It's been a stunning start to the season for Wagner’s men. The German’s methods have drawn their rewards with a haul of 13 points from his side’s opening five games. Most impressive was a win at Newcastle United before a valuable draw at Aston Villa.
The winner will be announced on Friday.
