Newcastle United: 'Incredible' late drama delights DeAndre Yedlin

29 September 2016

The EFL has seen some late drama, and the finish to Newcastle United's game against Norwich City is up there with the best...

The Canaries, who would've reclaimed top spot in the Sky Bet Championship with a win, looked set for three points when they led 3-1 after 69 minutes.

But the Magpies weren't down and out.

Dwight Gayle pulled one back in the 71st minute – his second of the night – and that's how it stayed until the fifth minute of injury time.

Then Yoan Gouffran popped up with a leveller, before Gayle hit the winner to complete his treble 60 seconds later.

Cue pandemonium. The North East erupted.

"It's pretty incredible," Newcastle's DeAndre Yedlin – the man who teed up Gouffran's headed equaliser – said after the game, speaking to nufc.co.uk.

"Obviously we've got to do better defensively I think, but it was great that we took our chances and never quit.

"The crowd really got behind us and helped push us on which was really good, and we're very happy with the three points.

"I don't think you can ever think that [the game is over at 3-1], and we showed why tonight. It was great character and the team did very well to come back. It was pretty impressive.

"That's the other thing – it was against a very good team and a very tough team to play. We're just very, very happy that we got the three points."
