The nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for September 2016.
Sonny Bradley (Plymouth Argyle)The heartbeat of a defence which conceded just two goals in five September games. Powerful in the air, strong in the tackle, Bradley has a no-nonsense style at the back and even found time to head home a late winner against Cheltenham Town.
Gary Roberts (Portsmouth)
Three goals and two assists for the creative hub of a Portsmouth side which moved into the top three. Roberts dictates play and has the vision and technique to find team-mates, while his goal against Barnet shows he can finish with style.
Jon Stead (Notts County)
The 33-year-old shows no sign of slowing down. Five goals in as many games took his season’s tally to nine. Always willing to drop deeper to link up play, a lovely strike against Leyton Orient showed he is comfortable shooting from distance.
Nathan Thomas (Hartlepool United)
Five goals in five games from the left wing, including two lovely finishes at Yeovil Town, is impressive enough to add to his positive style. It becomes remarkable when you learn that he scored every one of Hartlepool’s goals in September.
The winner will be announced on Friday.
