Sky Bet League Two: Morecambe back to winning ways at Notts County

11 October 2016

Tom Barkhuizen's double helped Morecambe to a 2-1 triumph in Tuesday night's rearranged clash with Notts County.

The Shrimps took the lead with just a quarter of an hour played, Tom Barkhuizen adding the finishing touch to a Michael Rose corner.

Both sides exchanged chances before the break but, with neither side being able to add the second goal, Barkhuizen's strike was the difference at the half-time whistle.

After the break, Jim Bentley's men came flying out of the traps and continued to put pressure on the hosts.

The pressure paid off after 10 second-half minutes, with the referee pointing to the spot after shouts for handball.

Barkhuizen stepped up and calmly slotted home to bag his brace and give the visitors a two-goal cushion.

Notts County had their chances, and began to pile on the pressure in the dying stages.

John Sheridan's men got their reward in the second minute of stoppage time when Vadaine Oliver got on the end of a cross to nod home and give the Magpies a glimmer of late hope.

It was in vain though, and the visitors inflicted Notts County's second successive Sky Bet League Two defeat to move into the Play-Off places.
