Fulham beat Brentford 2-0 at Griffin Park to kick-off the Matchday 16 action in the Sky Bet Championship.
Goals from Sone Aluko and Tom Cairney secured the victory for the Cottagers, 18 years after their last triumph at Griffin Park.The visitors started the brighter with defender Scott Malone causing problems down the left, delivering dangerous balls into the box.
Brentford goalkeeper Dan Bentley had to be alert to keep out efforts from Stefan Johansen and Sone Aluko, but the latter eventually found the breakthrough in the 36th minute.
The lively winger’s initial effort was saved by Bentley but he followed up to prod home and give the visitors the lead.
Aluko had another chance early in the second half but headed wide, while Fulham stopper David Button denied the Bees' Josh Clarke in a one-on-one at the other end.
Brentford pressed for a leveller and the opened the game up as it wore on, but it was Fulham who sealed the victory in injury time.
The Cottagers broke quickly and Johansen played in Cairney, who finished confidently to lift his side up to seventh in the table.
