Sky Bet Play-Offs preview: Accrington Stanley v AFC Wimbledon

18 May 2016

Accrington Stanley take on AFC Wimbledon tonight in the second leg of their Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off semi-final.

The visiting Dons hold a slender 1-0 advantage going into the fixture at the Wham Stadium, which kicks off at 7:45pm and will be screened live on Sky Sports.

Whichever side advances, it will lead to a historic first trip to Wembley. Accrington's Scott Brown has graced the hallowed turf before though, and is confident Stanley can overturn the deficit which would see the midfielder return under the arch for a fourth Play-Off Final.

“There’s no better way to go up than win at Wembley,” Brown told the club's official website. “I’ve been there and done it myself before. It’s the best feeling you can get.

“But first it’s Wimbledon and we just need a win. I think we’ve got enough quality in the squad to win the second leg. When we’re on it there are very few teams better than us in the league.

“We have players who are good enough to win games on their own and hopefully everything can click into place and we can see ourselves to Wembley.”

AFC Wimbledon's Callum Kennedy has tasted Sky Bet League 2 promotion before with Swindon Town, but also knows what it feels like to fall short in the Play-Offs having done so with the Robins two years prior.

“It was an amazing night when I was at Swindon and we went through at Charlton. Of course, there was a celebration because we got to Wembley, but unfortunately we lost,” the left-back told afcwimbledon.co.uk.

“It’s an experience that you don’t want to go through again in the sense of losing, but as the feeling subsides you look back on it with fond memories. It was a good experience you can draw a little bit from.

“If we got to Wembley it would be amazing, but that’s not what we are thinking about. We are concerned with trying to get the job done. We know we are in for a battle because they are a very good team. It’s nowhere near done.”
