Sky Bet Play-Offs: Barnsley book return to Wembley

19 May 2016

Barnsley booked a return to Wembley Stadium for the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off Final after a 6-1 aggregate victory over Walsall.

The Tykes, who won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy under the arch earlier in the season, held a 3-0 lead going into Thursday’s second leg.

And they didn’t let up, scoring another three goals en route to the final, where they’ll face either Bradford City or Millwall.

Adam Hammill got the ball rolling in the 18th minute before Ashley Fletcher added another just after the hour mark.

Jordan Cook pulled one back for Walsall with a stunning strike, but Josh Brownhill added gloss to the scoreline by tapping home in injury time.

Paul Heckingbottom’s men have already tasted success at the national stadium this term and all eyes will once again be on Wembley on Sunday 29th May to see if they can make it a double-winning campaign.
