Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 46 review

7 May 2016

Burnley were crowned champions and Middlesbrough beat Brighton & Hove Albion to promotion on a dramatic final day in the Sky Bet Championship.

Sean Dyche's Burnley needed to beat relegated Charlton Athletic at the Valley to cement their status as divisional winners, which they did so courtesy of a 3-0 victory.

In the North East, Middlesbrough and Brighton played out a tense 1-1 draw at the Riverside Stadium, which resulted in Boro being elevated back into the Premier League.

Cristhian Stuani tapped home to give the hosts a first-half lead, before Dale Stephens’ header at the back post pulled the score level in the second. Stephens was sent off moments later after a challenge on Gaston Ramirez.

Brighton will now face Sheffield Wednesday in the Play-Offs, and Hull City - who romped to a 5-1 scoreline against Rotherham United - will play Derby County.
