Huddersfield Town’s ‘Pedal for Pounds 7’ bike ride under way

5 May 2016

Huddersfield Town’s ‘Pedal for Pounds 7’ bike ride, sponsored by Orchard Energy, got under way at Carlisle United on Wednesday morning.

This season’s ride has seen 180 supporters get on their bikes to raise money for the Huddersfield Town Academy and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, beginning at Carlisle United on Wednesday morning.

Cyclists registered at PPG Canalside and enjoyed a breakfast before heading up to Carlisle on transport provided by Stotts Coaches.

They began to depart in their groups from Carlisle at 8.30am after a big ‘class picture’ in front of Brunton Park, the home of Carlisle United.

The overall route will see the cyclists travel from Carlisle, through Lancaster, Preston and Liverpool and finally back to PPG Canalside on Friday.

Cyclists taking part this year include the club’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis, an Academy team consisting of coaches Mark Lillis, Dave Haley, Neil Matthews and Mike Jeffries and BBC Radio Leeds’ Town commentator Paul Ogden!

This year’s route has been dubbed ‘The Shankly Tour’, with the locations selected having special relevance to Town’s legendary Manager Bill Shankly.
